My wishlist

I have been pretty busy with my gigs lately. Been trying to get out there as much as possible. It feels good cuz I can actually feel myself improving with my mixing and musical knowledge and stuff. But having said that, I still have a loooong way to go.

I've always wanted to be a scratch dj (amongst other things... I want to be a lot of things actually). The one thing, or actually rather two things a scratch deejay would need are turntables. I've been wanting to buy them for a long time, but I didnt have the money to get them. I've slowly been saving up for them. I've finally decided to get the Numark TT200 turntables

They cost S$490 a piece, so that works up to almost $1k. Then I'll also have to get the Numark Virtual Vinyl, to connect the turntables to my laptop.

Finally, I also decided to spend some money and get the new Numark M3 Mixer, because I dont wanna use my numark totalcontrol to double as a mixer for my turntables, cuz the crossfader is not made for that. This is the Numark M3, and below that is what I currently use, the Numark Totalcontrol.

After doing some calculations, I have concluded the stuff I'm getting (turntables, virtual vinyl and M3), is gonna cost me about $2,300. I've got about $600 more to save before I can cradle them in my arms lovingly. I was a bit excited about it which is why I decided to blog (after so long). Anyway, I would also like to inform all of yall that donations are welcome. Please contact me for details on how to contribute. =)

Till next year. I love you all.

My top 10 list

Finally the exams are over. It was a nasty week of CPA and company law. I managed to get through studying throughout the night by taking breaks and watching videos. I watched so many of them (at the expense of studying), that I am now able to compile my own TOP twelve list of videos.

I stumbled upon a website that hosts videos. It's called stuble upon a video, it can be found at video.stumbleupon.com or smthin. Just click on the links below and it will take you there, from there all you have to do is to click on the "stumble" button, and it will stream a new random video. You get to choose your preferences after watching a few vids, and then the content gets better, since it is based on your preferences. Anyway, here is my TOP 12 list:

  1. The Yes Men - Activism 1:21:01
  2. White House Fence Jumper Speaks - Activism 8:47
  3. Operation First Casualty - Activism 5:26
  4. We interrupt the bush empire - Activism 52:17
  5. One Red Paper Clip 8:21
  6. Another World - Activism 5:03
  7. Tiananmen Square Massacre - Activism 3:04
  8. Perfect Pictures for an Imperfect World - Art/Activism 0:31
  9. A modern day Da Vinci Genius? - Art/Science
  10. Don’t Stop (Original Version) - Err animation/rap/traffic lights 1:14
  11. Sexual Harassment and You - Satire 2:15

The Fat Man's Act

In todays post... we discuss the new private bill drafted by Ashwin and with a few contributions by me. Its called the Fat Man's Act. We intend to present this bill to parliament soon, and hopefully it will become enacted legislation by next year. The whole point is to promote healthy living. Our nation's only natural resource is people. We must therefore ensure that this resource is healthy and that each unit of this resource performs at its optimum. Now we have tried using campaigns but they just dont seem to work. Which is why we have adopted this measure. We invite your comments and views. But we will only consider comments from regular sized individuals.

Regards,
Mato & Ashwin (Although he isnt here)

Back for good?

Im back again. God knows how many times I've said this already, but yeah I've decided to get back to blogging again... for the moment at least.

So much has happened, I'm in my final year now. Its just so strange. I actually started this blog in my final year in secondary school, and now here I am, four years later, in my final year in Polytechnic.

A lot has happened over the past few months, to skim through real quickly, I struggled over the last semester, having to clear up a whole backlog of work, and towards the end of the last semester, I decided to take part in the business LT show again, and took on the role of scriptwriter, director, and actor, which was a whole shitload of work, even though I had quite a lot of help from others. Then after the exams, we went on holidays, and I decided to try applying for an internship at a law firm. I got a place at Christopher Bridgers, through the help on my senior, and had a wonderful experience there.

For the first 3 weeks I was stuck in a small room in the office, which was filled with boxes of files dating all the way back to 1989, and having to look through each and every file to see if they could be disposed of, and then filtering them into two piles. I went through about 3000 files in total, and just when I thought that it was all over, I had to spend another 3 days typing the serial numbers of all the destroyed files into an excel document. It was tough work, but I learned a lot looking through the files. Oh yeah I forgot to mention, I had to share the office with a huge brown rat. I named him Alex. I tried training him to look through files for me, so that he could work like after office hours whilst I chilled at home, but that didn't work out. After my stint with the files, I got proper legal work to do, drafting letters, opinions, representations to the Attorney General's chambers, mitigation pleas etc. My boss was pretty happy with my work, and brought me to court with him a couple of times. There was this one time where I drafted a mitigation plea for a client who was charged with re-using the coupon to drive his weekend car and got caught. My boss approved it, and then brought me to court with him. I sat at the back, and watched my boss hand the mitigation plea to the judge, who proceeded to read it. It felt really euphoric watching the judge read something I prepared. The client got off with a pretty reasonable fine. I ended my internship there with a bang, well not really a bang, but more of the sound you make when you puke, cuz thats what happened. I went drinking with my boss and got so sloshed I puked. Hahaha!

Anyway, school started again, and I've been taking a break from drama for a while. This semester is going not too bad. Everything is pretty comfortable. Hope it stays that way. The only thing im really annoyed about is the lab work I've got to do for civil procedure. It is so damn annoying. We have to draft writs of summons, affidavits, statements of claim etc. The thing is, the nice lecturers upload precedents for us to use on BlackBoard (The site we download all our materials from), and we simply follow them and replace the facts and edit some details here and there, look back and admire our piece of work. Then we go to class the next day and get hounded on by the lecturers for just using the precedents they provided because the precedent they provide is not accurate because the causes of action and facts are substantially different and stuff like that. And today I've got to draft a certificate of exchange of affidavits of evidence in chief, and there are no precedents provided, so I look at the rules of court and find a form there in PDF format, and try to copy and paste it into word, but the formatting is all lost, so I have to re-do the entire formatting again, and now it still does not look exactly the same as the one in the rules of court. Here are screenshots.

FORM 62 of Rules of Court

So anyway, I am probably gonna get screamed at again for not being anal, or not having a backing page, which I'm too lazy to do now. I've still got some other work to finish, so till next time, adieu.

Major Revamp

Hello everyone. I was sick today and hence stayed home and had nothing to do, so I decided to do what I always wanted to but kept putting off. Getting a new skin for my blog. I thought it would be pretty easy, just search for a blogskin I like and copy and paste. 5 minutes job.

So I searched and I searched and I searched, but all i found were blogskins that were horribly emo. I found one nice simple one, but then I saw a button on the edit template page that said upgrade to something something to customize ure template more. So i did that. blogger.com is under google now, and they've made some changes. It was a little easier to manage, but still it took me the entire day to create the graphics, find css codes to apply the correct settings to the background image and stuff like that. But I think its worth it, I mean look at my blog now... its so sexy and gorgeous. Like me.

If you guys need graphics for ure blogs, let me know... I can help you make it(For a nominal fee).

Nintendo Wii

The title of this post has nothing to do with the post itself. Its just the title of a South Park episode I was watching in school.

I got Photoshop CS today and I've been having loads of fun editing my pictures. Its like the coolest program ever man! My mum was blessing the invention of the computer everytime she walked in and saw what I had come up with. I really should have spent my time writing my two legal letters that are due tomorrow, but I just couldnt resist the urge of doctoring pictures. So here are some of my creations!

The Original

The Ali-G Version How my postcards to my fans would look if I was famous Egypt was fun! The view from an airplane window I am rather brainy you know!

If you wanna have your pics edited.. let me know. Ill gladly edit em for u. (For a nominal fee)

Hello... Ween.

It was halloween yesterday, 31st of October. I decided to celebrate it by wearing my monster mask to school (Refer to picture).

I put it on immediately after conveyancing law lecture, as I was exiting the lecture theatre. Scared the bejeezes outta folks. I was like walking along the corridors waving at people and yelling "Happy Halloween", which were echoed with comments from Dominic and Ashwin that went along the lines of "Weird nosed sindhi bastard" and "Hes so deprived". But little do they know that I had a wonderful childhood. All our cousins would hang out and then they would go cycle... they didnt take me along most of the time. Wait! I never once cycled with them. They went exploring and didnt allow me to join them. My mother used to send me out of the house to sleep with Sherla my cat on the swing when I was 5. My grandma beat me with a rolling pin when I refused to go to the temple with her. Hmm... maybe it wasnt so wonderful after all... HEY! but at least my mother didnt try killing me with a pair of scissors! Eh Ashwin???

Back to halloween before I get depressed. Yeah so I walked into the canteen with my mask on, and everyone just dropped their forks and spoons (Some tried dropping their pants too), and they just gaped at me. Felt really cool. Some random chick asked if she could take a picture with me. I mean im used to it and all by now... women just cant get enough of me, but still usually they introduce themselves first. :P

I had the misfortune of bumping into Mr Ferlin with my mask on. He said "Oh you had plastic surgery? You look much better now!". Then he scurried off to get his nasi padang.

I also wore my mask into the bus all the way to tampines mall, wishing a few commuters Happy Halloween. Met some of my drama juniors in the ITAS canteen and they were in their halloween costumes too. How wonderful. They got free food and all, but I think its only cuz they are girls. I asked the same uncle for something free after they left and he just stared at me and then asked if he could borrow my mask. He took a couple of pictures with the mask on, gave it back to me and said thanks. He didnt even like give me a french fry.

But all in all, it was a good halloween. Oh and I was thinking about what dominic said "We not ang moh celebrate halloween for what???" Well, I guess its for the fun of it, but I also feel that many only celebrate it cuz its american and everything american is good. So Im gonna go do some research on other festivals and look out for the fun ones and celebrate it. Goodnight!
